Ever have a day...

...where you think you know what will happen when you wake up? In reality, at the end of the day, it turned out completely different? Oh yea, today was that day!

It went something like this
~Get up
~Shower
~Eat breakfast
~Stop by Starbucks
~Head to Kennewick for Landon's dental appointment to get his teeth cleaned
~Wait for an hour in the waiting room (this was our first sign)

It started out all smiles waiting for the hygienist to get everything ready.

Then we found out it was time for x-rays. That is a brave smile. I tried to quickly explain the "tooth" camera. The top and the bottom x-rays were fine...the 2 side ones, not so fine. He did get to choose 4 stickers for the 4 x-rays tho.

Then came the cleaning...you have to know that Landon does not like anything "spicy" in his mouth, hence, the 5 flavors of toothpaste that he has to choose from every night. I am not buying any more flavors till he uses these up! So when it came time to "tickle" his teeth with a flavor, I had to hold his hands down. He was complemented on how shiny all his crowns were!

Something new this time was getting his weight, blood pressure and oxygen saturation taken. He didn't care for the BP cuff getting so tight around his arm! He is a growing boy that gained 3 pounds in less than a month!

Dr. Walker came to examine his teeth and there were no cavities! Hip hip hooray! Then came the fluoride treatment...more "spicy" in his mouth. He turned to me and asked if I had any concerns...yes I did...a sore on his gum that won't go away and a front tooth that he won't bite down with. Looking at his x-rays, Landon's adult teeth are coming in and his baby teeth are not letting go, causing the sore tooth and on his gum.

This is when our day changed course...Our options were to "wiggle" them today or the next time we came in. Since it is a drive for us, I opted to go with today if they had time. Waiting again, they worked Landon in to the schedule.

Here he is with headphones on watching "Madagascar" on the ceiling, with sunglasses for the bright light and the "laughing gas" for the nerves. He really does not like the "airplane" on his nose.

The last picture of his two front teeth in his mouth. Dr. Walker's wife is a scrapbooker and was very patient with me taking pictures. He even posed Landon's teeth shot!

Once again, another "spicy" in his mouth to prenumb the gum. Yes, he did cry and throw a fit.

Even after the Novocaine shots, the laughing gas, the movie, sunglasses and both Lon and I in the room, when Dr. Walker went to open his mouth, Landon was in full force fright! It took both of us and the nurse to hold him down while the teeth were "wiggled" which lasted less than 10 seconds and then the "bandaids" were put in the sockets. The doc was quite impressed with how strong my baby is!
I was not prepared for this procedure like 2 months ago when his molar broke. We went to Target to purchase Tylenol, more gauze pads and a bottle of water to get us through the rest of the day.
A very tired, energy spent, traumatized, sore mouthed little boy.

A couple hours later, he was able to call his Aunt Stacy, Kyndra and Avery to tell them about his teeth. One last stop before heading home was to Maggie Moo's for Mango Sorbet with marshmallow mix ins!

Once again, he is on a soft food diet, no straws or sippy cups. He is a pro now!

On the way home, he fell asleep.

After a 4 hour nap, he woke up and said that he would be pretty sleepy tomorrow because he had a big day today! Lon had purchased a movie for a surprise and together they enjoyed "Happy Feet".
So very thankful that Lon was able to go with us today!

What crazy similarities! We see Dr. Walker... and he has done a LOT of dental work for us this year. We love him... AND we love Maggie Moo's afterwards! :-)
